Overview
Red Van Restoration (we, us) operates redvan.ca. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It is written to reflect our obligations under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us.
Quote requests. When you submit our quote request form we collect your name, email address, telephone number, the service address, city and postal code, whether the property is residential or commercial, the service you are asking about, your preferred service date, and your description of the work. For carpet and upholstery enquiries we may also collect the number of rooms, approximate square footage, number of staircases, details of upholstery or area rugs, and whether there are pet stains, odours, heavy soiling, or furniture that needs moving, along with any parking and access notes you provide.
Photographs. You may optionally upload up to five photographs of the affected area. These may show the interior or exterior of your property.
Technical information. Our web server and caching software record standard request data, including your IP address, for security and performance purposes. We record the IP address a quote request was submitted from as a safeguard against automated abuse.
Telephone calls. If you call us, we take the details needed to respond. We do not record calls.
Why we collect it
We use this information solely to prepare and send you a quote, to arrange and carry out work you request, to contact you about your enquiry, and to keep records of work performed. We do not use it for automated decision-making, and we do not sell it.
Consent
The quote request form asks you to confirm that we may store your details and contact you about your request. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us, subject to any legal or contractual records we are required to keep.
Marketing
We do not add you to a marketing list from a quote request, and we do not send promotional email unless you have separately asked us to.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only where necessary:
- Our hosting provider, which stores this website and its database on servers in Canada.
- Our email provider, which delivers quote notifications to us and confirmation messages to you.
- Our job management software, used to schedule work, produce quotes, and issue invoices.
- Where required by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Where you are making an insurance claim, we may exchange information with your insurer or their representative at your direction.
Third-party content on this site
Our reviews section is displayed using a third-party review widget, which loads content from that provider’s servers. As a result, that provider may receive your IP address and basic browser information when a page containing the widget loads. We do not send it any information about you.
Cookies
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our caching software may set a functional cookie to serve pages efficiently, and WordPress sets a session cookie only if you log in as a site administrator. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work.
How long we keep it
Quote requests that do not lead to work are retained for up to two years so we can respond if you come back to us, then deleted. Records relating to completed work, including invoices, are retained for the period required by Canadian tax and business record-keeping law.
How we protect it
This site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to quote requests is limited to authorised personnel. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, provide you with a copy, correct anything inaccurate, or delete information we are not required to keep. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within the timeframes set by applicable law. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date below. Material changes affecting how we use information already collected will be brought to your attention.
